The exhibition “Mystère Picabia: Vanessa Fanuele & Olivier Daquin at the Château de Mai” offers an immersion into the world of three artists closely linked to the Mediterranean. The exhibition, guided by a reflection on Francis Picabia’s presence in Mougins from 1925 onward, will be presented alongside paintings on canvas and paper by Vanessa Fanuele and Olivier Daquin. The selection of these two contemporary artists was guided by the proximity of their works to the formal challenges developed by Picabia following his move to the South. The use of dense, thick paint (the collage paintings, the Monsters series) gives way to an artistic practice that plays on effects of transparency.
