François Nugues is participating in a group exhibition until May 31, 2025.
The three international artists in the new group show “Spectrum” at Galerie Bessaud have explored this question in abstract works using surprising mediums to transcribe color spectra, pushing the limits of our minds to, who knows, allow us to burst this bubble?
For several decades, Parisian François Nugues has been reinventing, in his abstract language, a whole grammar of patterns and forms born from natural elements or the hand of man. “Color is a living energy that constantly metamorphoses,” he explains.
Between cosmic and microscopic visions, he invites us into his pictorial universe, which we can physically feel because it is so organic; works where organic and fluid forms overlap. On the canvas, the paint pushes, merges and retracts, producing a collection of textures that are mottled, aqueous, clumped, viscous, cloudy, airy, hard as ice or as light as petals. No hierarchy in the infinite possibility of the compositions imposes an order to follow: the gaze wanders freely but is nevertheless captive, despite itself, to the dynamic lines on the canvas.
